Video Programming Units (VPU-200/210 series)
	Early VPU200-3101and 3102 units used 360Kb dual density PC disc drives, which have proved to be reliable, although ladder comments are not available on the programs produced, plus 360Kb discs are getting hard to source. VPU200-3104 and VPU210-3104 units use ultra high density 3.3Mb floppy disc drives. HD discs are now virtually un-obtainable and very easily scratched and therefore not a reliable storage method for your valuable backup programs. No reliable method has been found to repair these high density drives and so selection of working units and careful cleaning is all we can do. When we repair, or rebuild a unit for sale, we fit a second 3.5" 1.4Mb drive and drive selector switch, and provide you with a set of operating system disks for that VPU type on 3.5" discs. This enables you to carefully read your fragile programs from the HDD drive, or directly from the PLC, and transfer them to reliable 3.5" discs. If your HD drive is faulty then we can transfer your programs to 3.5" disc on our own VPU unit and fit the new 3.5" drive as replacement, within the standard repair charge. Later VPU210-3105 units use only 3.5" drives for reliability, apart from the VPU-COMBO which has both, and these will program all three 500 series PLC formats, whereas the VPU200 will only program formats 1 and 2.
